Davenport, Iowa-based Clairco Tool Company Inc. was founded by Ralph
St. Clair in 1957 as one of Sandvik Coromant's first U.S. distributors.
It was St. Clair who introduced Sandvik products to manufacturing giants
like Caterpillar Tractor Co., John Deere, and International Harvester,
along with other cutting tool users both large and small.
St. Clair transferred ownership of Clairco to James Luebke in 1980.
Luebke, a former Sandvik employee, had joined the company in 1975. He
continued to focus on expanding Sandvik's market share within Clairco's
authorized trading area. During his ownership, additional sales
people, staff, and a few complementary tool lines such as OSG, SGS, and
Techniks, were added to the company's product offerings.
In January 2005, Steven Griswold became Clairco's current owner.
Steve began his employment with Clairco in 1989 and is, to a great
extent, responsible for the company's diversification and growth since
joining the company. He is committed to carrying on the legacy of his
predecessors.
Clairco, now approaching 50 years in the business, continues to be one of
the regions leading cutting tool distributors, paring some of the
industry's top metal-cutting products at competitive prices with
unmatched expertise. Clairco may be the partner you're looking for to
help you increase productivity and decrease your cost per part. If
you're a cutting tool user, you owe it to yourself to see if we measure

easy to give us an opportunity to compete for your business with little
or no risk. We're eager to try to help you.
